/bedlingtonstationprimaryschool/images/Core_Knowledge.png)

How do Muslims who the Allah is the most important thing to them?Muslims do things every day to make sure they remember Allah like praying 5 times a day. The prayer times are often at difficult times, but this is to show that Muslims should build their day around Allah rather than fit him into their lives when it suits them best. Allah comes first.

Pathway: Making a moving monster
Designing and creating a moving monster using levers, linkages and pivots.
Core: Mechanisms
/bedlingtonstationprimaryschool/images/Core_Knowledge.png)
How does a lever or linkage change the way an object moves when you push or pull it?
A lever or linkage helps a part move more easily. When you push or pull one part, another part moves too. This is because the pieces are joined together, so the movement travels from one place to another.
Why is it important to plan, test and improve your design when making a product that moves?
Planning helps you know what you want to make. Testing shows you if it works properly. Improving helps you fix things so your product is stronger, safer or moves better. Designers do these steps to make sure their final product works well.
/bedlingtonstationprimaryschool/images/image-z7fa7.png)
Lever – A simple mechanism that moves when you push or pull one end.
Linkage – Parts joined together with pivots so that movement can transfer from one place to another.
Pivot – The point where something turns or rotates.
SCIENCE
National Curriculum:
Working Scientifically (Pattern Seeking)
Wow! Wonder Launch!
Big Question: How can we make the best paper spinner?
Focus: Pattern Seeking / Simple Engineering Design
Outline: Children create paper helicopters/spinners using strips of card. They change one variable at a time, e.g.: length of wings, weight added at the bottom (paper clip / no paper clip), size of the spinner. Drop spinners from a fixed height and watch how they fall.
Look for patterns: Do longer wings make it fall slower? Does weight make it drop faster? Children sketch and label their final design.
