A Modern Approach
At Bedlington Station Primary School, our Early Years follow ‘The Curiosity Approach’ and we are working towards gaining our accreditation. 'The Curiosity Approach’ is a modern day approach to Early Childhood. It’s a beautiful recipe book of wonderful ingredients, carefully mixed together with experience, passion and a love of Early Childhood.
Igniting Curiosity
In Early Years, we want to ignite children’s natural curiosity to explore the world around them. The curiosity approach is based on child-led learning.
Our children make their own choices, and figure things out for themselves which leads to enhanced confidence, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
We are creating ‘thinkers and doers’ instead of passive learners. By creating active learners, children are more engaged in their environment and have fun.
They are in charge of their own development and choose activities which play to their own interests.

The term before your child is due to start nursery you and your child will be invited to an open day. Together with your child you can explore our Early Years unit and outdoor area. There will be opportunities for children to play and staff will be on hand to answer any questions you have. We look forward to meeting you!
Reception Places
All applications to Reception must go through the Admissions Team at Northumberland County Council. These applications can usually be made in November and close mid January through an online portal on Northumberland County Council's web page. You cannot apply for a Reception place directly through the school. Parents are notified of their child’s place on National Offers day in mid-April for admissions the following September. Please remember to compete an application even if your child attends our nursery. There is no automatic right to a place in our Reception class.
