Designing a healthy snack.

This half term we have been working for Portal design.  Our brief, which was from Waitrose, was to create a healthy snack which would be appealing to children.  . Waitrose needed a product to sit along side sweets in their shop but could be a healthier alternative to the usual sugar filled treats..

We began to think of healthy alternatives such as fruit, jelly and flapjacks then began creating delicious flavours and tastes.  We wrote a persuasive letter to Olive Stein with our reasons as to why she should forward our range of snacks to Waitrose.  We did lots of calculation activities this half term and our use of written methods for addition and subtraction is improving hugely.  We used this skills to solve problems involving weight, measures an money.

We wrote our own instructions for recipes and can now use time conjunctions to order our writing.  Our use of imperative verbs helped us write our instructions.  We are looking forward to next half term and finding out all about electricity.
