Year 5 Time Travellers!

This half term Rowan Class have been Time Agents, travelling back to the Anglo-Saxon times.

We became experts in who the Anglo’s were; where they came from; places they settled in Britain; and foods the liked to eat. We even made some Anglo-Saxon style soup of our own! We learnt how to chop a variety of fresh vegetables and thought about vegetables the Anglo-Saxons may have grown. We presented all of this information in a PowerPoint presentation to Mr. Sutherland to show him our fabulous history knowledge!

In English, we recorded all of the facts and information we had learnt in detailed history reports which showed off all of our amazing grammar and writing techniques. Linking in with our history, we used our knowledge of where the Anglo-Saxons came from and where they settled to mark ideal settlement areas for Anglo-Saxons on a map of the UK, and identify these areas using 4 and 6 figure grid referencing.

In Science, we used our Wonder Wall to do lots of small scale investigations to improve our scientific thinking and explore lots of different concepts. I

n maths we did lots of data work and looked at different ways to represent data. We then used this to help us solve problems relating to tables, graphs and pie charts. We also practised lots of multi-step problems that could help us solve real life problems.
