Daring Designers!

This half term we have been working for Olive Stain at Portal Design. In our role as designers we were asked to create puppets for a shadow puppet show. In order to do this we had to find out about light and shadow including how shadows are formed.

We found out the answers to key scientific questions through research and investigation and used our findings to start to design and make our puppets.

Throughout the half term in maths we had a focus on fractions, including finding fractions of amounts, comparing fractions and solving word problems. We also learned about shapes including acute, obtuse and right angles and different types of lines including horizontal, vertical, parallel and perpendicular. This helped us to sketch and design our puppets.

In English we have been learning about persuasive presentations, plays and poetry. We used out learning about plays to develop and write plays to go with our puppets for Portal Design.
