Heroes of the past!
This half term Beech class have been working for the Time Institute. Our task has been to find out about significant people from the past.
We have researched Grace Darling, Andy Warhol, Samuel Pepys and Queen Victoria.
To help us with our research we visited the Grace Darling museum in Bamburgh and found out all about her, her family and what made her a heroine. We looked around the museum and attended a Drama workshop where we retold the story through acting.
We have also studied some of Andy Warhol’s ‘Pop art’ and created our own using prints, colours and photography on the iPads.
After learning about Queen Victoria and the Great Fire of London, we put ourselves in the shoes of Samuel Pepys and wrote a diary entry to explain all about the Great Fire. We also created a fact file about Queen Victoria.
We have also been improving our maths and English skills. We have learned about 2d and 3d shapes, adding and subtracting, stories and recounts.
