Percy the Park Keeper
Acorn Class has a visit from Percy the Park Keeper. It is Autumn now and he has lots of work to do. He wants us to help him get his park ready for Winter. First he would like us to find out about Autumn. What is it and what happens as the season changes. We love exploring the leaves - looking at different colours and talking about the feel and sound of them as we throw, kick and collect them. We help tidy up our garden by sweeping and collecting leaves. We explore dance using scarves as leaves as they fall off the tree. We have a little hut inside our class - just like Percy's hut where we can make tea and write lists of jobs that need doing. Next we help Percy with his animal friends. We learn a new word - hibernate and make cosy homes for the animals so they can keep safe over the winter. One day there is a big storm in Percy's park. The big oak tree where a lot of the animals live has blown down. We decide to make our tree in Nursery into new homes for the animals. We make ladders and homes and even swings and hammocks for the animals. To say thank you Percy bought us a christmas tree from his park. We decorated it and started our Christmas celebrations.
