Year 5 investigate!!!!!!

This half term during our Literacy lesson we have been learning about Imagery and Information Texts. Imagery creates a picture in the readers mind and we have used this to write some poetry. When writing our information texts we looked at how they are set out and where we can find them. We looked at what needs to be included in an information text, eg, title, sub-title, introduction, paragraphs, diagrams, pictures and a conclusion.

In numeracy we have been learning percentages. We know that percentages are parts of a hundred and how they are linked to fractions and decimals. When looking at all these we can say what each of them would be.

This half term we have been building on our enterprise skills. We had a visit from Virgin Money, to show us how the business began and how much it’s grown. Our project is called Make £5 Grow. We were given £5 each and set into groups. Our aim is to make this money grow by selling products at the Summer Fair.

In history we have learned about the Anglo Saxons. We have looked at where they came from, how they got to this country and the ways that they lived. We have also learned what legacies they left behind when they returned to their country.
