This half term children looked at local poetry, including the work of Geordie Ridley. They looked at the content, the use of expression as well as the use of the Geordie accent.

Children then produced their own local poem using the pattern of The Blaydon Races.

Newspaper reports  were also produced by Rowan class. In order for their reports to be concise, informative and engaging, children looked at a range of newspaper reports, the layout, language and punctuation used.

Rowan Class continued their work on division, looking at their written method and progressing onto solving word problems.

Within geography, children studied Northern Ireland. They looked at the counties, mountains and tourist attractions. They created a travel brochure for the area.

In Rowan Class, children have continued to develop and use their French language skills. They are now able to order from a food menu, using role play within French lessons.

Children developed skills within computer programming.. This included learning about and using algorithms. Children used the computer programme ‘Scratch’ to support this.
