Forces in motion.

This half term we have been working for Olive Stein at Portal Press.
Our main task was to create a book of Wonders all about forces.

We started by learning about non-chronological reports which we then wrote for The Book of  Wonders to explain different forces and magnets. In order to collect information for our reports we investigated and explored gravity, air resistance, friction and magnetism. We also attended a trip to the Discovery Museum where we took part in a Forces in Motion workshop. There we created our own cars and tested them out!

During the half term we also learned about famous artist Picasso and his style of art. We used our learning to create some of our own portraits. We also studied volcanoes and created our own model with different design materials.

We continued to focus on healthy eating and a balanced diet and used our knowledge of different sweet and savory ingredients to prepare and cook flapjacks.

In maths we have been learning about measures including instrumentsused to measure different objects in various units. This helped us to measure the distance a toy car travels on different surfaces and how friction affects this.
