Chinese New Year

Our new friend Lin Dan came to see us. He has travelled all the way from China to stay with his cousin in Newcastle to celebrate New year. He would like us to help him to get ready for the celebrations. We created a Chinese restaurant where we cooked and served noodles and rice, chicken and dumplings. We found that it is very tricky to eat noodles with chop sticks. We tried on chinese costumes. They look really good. Before New Year we need to clean the house and put up chinese decorations and bowls of oranges for good luck. We made chinese banners to wish everyone good luck and Happy New Year. We used our scissor skills to make colourful chinese lanterns. Lin Dan told us that children re given lucky money packets. We made our own and counted out 'pennies' to put inside. We danced to chinese music and made up a special firecracker dance. We help  Willow class make a Chinese Dragon. We played chinese music and played our instruments while we paraded with our dragon through school Gung Hey Fat Choy!
